UNIQUE BELT DRIVE SYSTEM
The rigidity
of conventionally designed saws is dependent on the blade holder mountings, the material and construction of their arms, and
how it's all supported. The moving mass of the arms must be counter balanced to minimize vibration. This movable mass is minimized
in the ECLIPSE saw. Instead of moving parallel arms, C-arm or link drive components that cause much of the vibration in other
saw designs, the ultra-light Oscillating Drive Loop System makes the ECLIPSE nearly vibration free. Weight is the vibration
causing enemy of any machine. The combined weight of all the moving parts (excluding the motor) is under 1 pound. That's less
than the weight of one arm on many saws.
BELLS & WHISTLES
When we designed
the ECLIPSE our goal was to build a saw with everything we ever wanted, and then some. All of our controls are up front.* The hour meter keeps track of the accumilated time on a project. When a job gets interrupted,
turn off the main switch. The next time you start to work again it picks up where you left off.* Some
machines have the air hose on the right and some on the left. Ours is in the center.* You decide
which side you want it on. We added a 90 deg. nozzle to blow the dust away from you. It costs less than a nickel more
than the straight one.* The small adjustable work light shines a spot right where you need
it.* If the blade breaks the machine shuts
off immediately.* If you fail to pull the tension lever before you push the start switch, it won't
start.*
*You saw it first on the ECLIPSE!
The table is mounted
on large trunnions and the clamping force is in a downward direction, similar to a band saw.* When
the clamping is inward from the front, as it is on most machines, it creates a pivot point for the table to move on. It's
cheap and easy to build, but not stable. We made it easy to read the protractor by making the insert hole larger, and
moving the pointer off to the side and illuminating it with the light.* A cast iron table
is used instead of an aluminum one. We have been accused of choosing this heavy material to dampen vibration. What's wrong
with that? Cast iron has been used for years to dampen both sound and vibration.
